President’s Choice Credit Card also known as PC Financial MasterCard is ranked among the best credit cards, with no annual fees attached to it, for groceries and gas in Canada.

Utilizing the PC Financial MasterCard will earn you points termed “PC Optimum Points” on your everyday procurement with bonuses at affiliated outlets.

You can redeem these points for free items at retail outlets like Shoppers Drug Mart, Superstore, Joe Fresh, No Frills and Loblaws, which has close to 2,500 locations across Canada. All amounts indicated in this article are in Canadian dollars.

The PC Financial MasterCard allows purchases of about $200 through tap-enabled technology within any Loblaw locations. Note that if the purchase is higher, you’ll be required to use your physical plastic card.

Types of PC MasterCard

There are three PC MasterCard, with no annual fees attached to any of them. They are:

  • PC Financial MasterCard

Eligibility;

  • Fair- Good Credit score (660)
  • Minimum of $12000 annual income
  • No annual fee

This card has no annual fee attached to it and there is no minimum income requirement. There are no restrictions what so ever on this card, regardless of where you shop, you’ll earn PC Optimum Point at a basic rate of 10 per every $1 spent when you pay with this card.

Also, there is a special rate of 25 per every $1 spent at Pharmaprix or Shoppers Drug Mart, and a minimum of 30 points per liter at Mobil or Esso. You enjoy a best-price guarantee and earn 20 points per $1 spent when you utilize your card for flights, hotel stays, tours, and car rentals in the PC Travel program.

Though this card is the most basic PC card, it has to purchase assurance protection, prolong warranty coverage and can accommodate four free cards for family members.

  • PC Financial World MasterCard

Eligibility;

  • Fair-God Credit Score (725 above)
  • Minimum of $60000 annual income
  • No annual fee

The PC Fianncial World MasterCard is suitable for people who make over $60,000 annually or $100,000 in your household. The reward attached to this product is double; you’ll earn 20 points per $1 spent in Loblaws-affiliated stores, plus 35 per $1 spent at Pharmaprix or Shoppers, 20points per $1 at PC travel, and a minimum of 30 points per liter at Mobil or Esso.

There are no annual fees attached to this card, the basic rate being charged for every purchase everywhere else is 10 points per $1 spent. You can purchase at ease knowing you have purchasing assurance and a prolonged warranty. With this card, you can get help with your reservations, tickets, and bookings with a 24/7 concierge service.

  • PC Financial World Elite MasterCard

Eligibility;

  • Fair-God Credit Score (725 above)
  • Minimum of $80000 annual income
  • No annual fee

This card is for larger purchasers who want to get all the rewards and meet the required criteria. To become a holder of this card, you must earn $80,000 personal or $150,000 household annual income. For every purchase executed at Loblaws outlet, you earn 30 points per dollar, while at Shoppers you get 45 points per $1.

If you utilize the PC Travel program you get 30 points per $1 and earn a minimum of 30 points per $1 at Mobil and Esso. There is also an added perk of a 24/7 concierge service and identity theft protection. Your car rental collision/loss damage protection will be covered and you get a travel emergency medical insurance.

Application Process

There are two ways to apply for your PC MasterCard, you can apply

  • Online

To commence your PC Master Card application online click www.pcfinancial.ca/en

  • In-person

Apply in person at any authorized location with a President’s Choice Financial Pavilion or in-store representative. Generally, it takes about five minutes to fill out the application form, and about 7-10 business days to get approval on your card.

After approval, it takes about 1-2 weeks to get your card in the mail. Alongside your card comes a welcome kit which includes your PC MasterCard and Cardholder Agreement.

Your certificate of insurance and a benefits guide that states all the perks that come with your new card. Also, there is a manual that guides you through your new card. This option is not available in Quebec.

PC MasterCard Balance Payment

Obtaining and paying for your PC MasterCard Balance payment is a seamless process. There are three ways to pay your PC MasterCard balance, they are:

  • Online Payment 

This includes the online app, telephone, and bank machine. Online payment is the swiftest and most convenient payment method. Ensure to process your payment by 5 pm CST on a banking day for banking machine payment for it to be credited on the same day. Payments made via these channels are reflected in your online summary 2-3 days after payment.

  • Mail

You can mail in your payment in an envelope to this mailing address

“PC Financial MasterCard,

P.O. Box 4405, STN A, Toronto,

ON M5W 5Y6.”

Ensure to include the top part of your statement together with your cheque or money order payable to “PC Financial MasterCard.” Payment via mail takes about 7-10 business days for PC Financial MasterCard to receive payment via Canada post.

Note that once PC Financial MasterCard gets your payment, your account will be credited instantly. Always ensure to make payment before the due date so it meets up with your due date when received.

In-branch Payment

You can make your balance payments in any in-branch outlet, over the counter and some financial institutions. Note that, some of these financial institutions may attract service charges.

Also, the services rendered by these financial institutions are at their discretion, so it might take about 10 days to get to PC Financial MasterCard. You receive the money in your account once PC Financial MasterCard gets notice of the payment. Some of the financial institutions can send your payment through include:

  • ATB Financial
  • Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce1
  • Bank of Montreal
  • Most credit unions
  • National Bank
  • Desjardins
  • Scotia bank
  • TD Canada Trust
  • RBC Financial Group
  • HSBC
  • Laurentian Bank

Note that you can make payment at the above-mentioned financial institutions for your PC MasterCard balance even if you don’t bank with them.

Credit Limit

The minimum credit limit on PC MasterCard is around $100 with a preload feature of about $1000. If you utilize the $1000, you’re not required to pay back, though when you start dipping into the $100, then you’ll be required to pay back the $100.

You can request a credit limit increase or decrease on your PC MasterCard via your PC Financial account online. Once you’ve signed in, scroll to “Account & Cards,” ensure you’re on the “Accounts” section and click on the account you’d like to increase or decrease credit limit for.

PC MasterCard Issuing Bank

PC MasterCard is issued by President’s Choice Bank, a chain of the Loblaw companies. Though you can waive your Cash advance fee at CIBC bank machines.

PC MasterCard App

To get started with the PC MasterCard Mobile App, you will need to download the app from your mobile device or tablet fro, Google Play or Apple App Store. Once you install the app, log in your existing PC Financial username and password for existing users, while for new users; register your account by clicking on “sign up.”

If your mobile device doesn’t support the PC Financial Mobile App, you can access your account via your browser by visiting secure.pcfinancial.ca on your search bar. You can access your account online on the PC Financial app, to check your balance simply

  • login into your account
  • Navigate to the dashboard and click on your PC Financial MasterCard Balance.

To check your statement of account

  • Login in to your account
  • Click on “Accounts & Cards,” to review your account statement

Some of the PC MasterCard App features include:

  • Personalized dashboard
  • Easy access to your account; account balance, transaction history, account statement, and the due date
  • You can set travel reminders
  • You can include an authorized user to your account
  • Update your account PIN
  • Get access to customer service and support

PC MasterCard Balance Protection

You can sign up for your PC MasterCard Balance Protection when you apply online. If you would like to add this feature to an existing PC MasterCard credit card login into your account, click on “Accounts & Cards”, scroll to “Account Balance Protection” and navigate to the card you want to protect.

PC MasterCard OTP Verification

One-Time Passcode (OTP) is used to authenticate a transaction. This is a safety measure to ensure every transaction is authorized by a cardholder.

The OTP is a short-code that is sent to your registered number, and you’ll be required to input it on your online app to finalize the transaction. If you are using the online channel for your transaction and you are unable to verify the One-Time Passcode (OTP), or you enter an incorrect OTP, you’ll be denied access to proceed with the initiated transaction.

To rectify this, you’ll have to contact PC Financial MasterCard at 1-866-246-7262 to lay your complaint and aid you with information you’ll need to proceed with your online transaction.

Stolen/Lost PC MasterCard

Once you discover your credit card is missing or stolen, contact customer service immediately via 1-866-246-PCMC (7262) to cancel your lost/stolen account immediately.

Ensure to have your credit card number available when calling. Your credit card will be canceled instantly and a new card will be sent to you, this takes about 2 business days.
