A steam card is an online-only service that offers online gift card services. This card is available in many stores; however, all processing is done online. There are currently five types of steam gift cards, each coming with a different price tag.

Once you get a steam card, it comes with an activation code that you can use to put the Steam card’s value into your account’s digital Steam Wallet.

Once a digital Steam card is sent, the recipient will have money added to their wallet by accepting the gift. They can use the Steam card wallet balance to purchase games, downloadable content, and in-game items.

However, if it is a physical gift card, the recipient will have to activate it online by inputting the activation code.

Sending a Digital Steam Card

Sending a digital Steam card is very easy; Go to the Steam website, log in to your account, and choose the amount of the card you want to send. Proceed to select the friend on your Steam friends list you would like to send the Steam to. Note that the recipient must be on your friend’s list on Steam.

You will find a text field provided by Steam to add a note to send along with the card. The note feature is optional; you do not have to include a message.

Once the messaging aspect is done, you will be required to choose a payment method. Luckily, Steam accepts most major credit cards, including PayPal purchases, so it should be too hard to pick one.

To complete the whole process, you will be required to agree to the Stean subscriber agreement and be offered one last chance to change your purchase.

Once you click on agree and submit, Steam will send you an email to confirm that the transaction was successful. And your digital Stean card will be sent immediately.

Steam will email you to confirm that the transaction was made successfully, and your digital Steam card will be sent immediately.

Adding a Friend on Steam

Remember we mentioned the recipient of a Steam must be on your Steam friend list. So how do you add a friend on Steam? There are currently two ways to go about adding a friend on Steam. They include:

  • Steam-generated Friend code

You can generate a Friend Code for a friend you would like to add. Once you send the code and they receive it, they will have to go to the Steam page, copy and paste the code into the text field. A small pop-up will appear with your friend’s username; click the blue button with the word “send invite” to add them.

Once this is done, your friend(s) will receive a notification that you have sent a friend request. When they accept the request, you will be added to each other’s Friends List.

Alternatively, you can use the Steal generated link to add friends; once you send the link to anyone and they click on it, they will be added to your Friend List.

Note that this link has a 30-day expiration period, and it can only be used once. Although this method is fast, it is not secured as the link can be shared with anyone.

  • In-app method

This process involves opening the Steam application and choosing “Friends” from the toolbar at the app’s top. Alternatively, you can do this from the menu bar at the top of your screen and select “Add a Friend” from the dro-down menu. This method is only applicable if you are using a Mac.

Using a Steam Card

There are tons of things you can use your Steam card for; some of them include:

  • Buy games from developers across the world
  • Buy software with your steam gift card
  • Send digital gifts to friends or loved ones
  • Offer the gift card as a gift
  • Buy actual Hardware
  • Join millions of users on Steam
  • Exchange your Steam gift card for another option

Conclusion

A steam card comes in handy for a lot of purposes, especially for people into gaming. Any gamer will be happy to have a Steam card. You can leverage your card in several ways and even use it to gift friends.
