Cons of The Amazon.Ca Credit Card

The only way you can use your reward is by using them to pay for part or all of your Amazon.ca purchases when checking out, this makes them limited.

Amazon.ca charges a foreign transaction fee of 2.5%, so, if you are using the card for a foreign transaction and you get 2.5% (if you have an eligible Amazon Prime Membership), it is used to offset the foreign transaction fee. Thus, you earn no reward points for that.

Redeeming Points

As soon as your Amazon.ca Rewards MasterCard gets to 2000 points, a CA$50 Amazon.ca Gift card will be automatically added to your Amazon.ca account linked to this credit card. Note, this is usually within two billing cycles. You will be able to see your reward redemption on your next credit card statement.

Rewards Mastercard Points Balance

There are two alternatives to checking your Amazon.ca Credit card balance. You can check your reward balance yourself by following the steps below:

  • Log in to the MBNA Online Banking at mbna.ca
  • Select your Amazon.ca Rewards Master card account
  • Click on the Rewards tab
  • Proceed to tap on the plus sign beside each transaction you’ve had

Alternatively, you can also view your Amazon.ca Reward Mastercard at mbna.ca, follow the steps below to check:

  • Login to your account and select Amazon.ca Rewards Mastercard account
  • Click on the Rewards tab to view your balance

Points Expiration

Be rest assured that your points are still valid as long as your credit card account is open and in good standing. Bear in mind that if you or MBNA closes the credit card account and there are less than 2,000 points in it, those points will be lost.

Aside the some of the few downsides of this card, the Amazon.ca credit card is a great option for you if you are a frequent shopper on Amazon.ca and Wholesale Food Market Stores in Canada. The welcome offer is quite attractive and the Everyday Earn opportunities will earn you some rewards too.
