Home Depot Credit Cards are purchasing cards issued by Citibank. They can be used to procure goods at any Home Depot store and online, also they offer different financing options to users.

Home Depot Credit Card – An Overview
Home Depot Credit Card offers a few rewards for users who offset their balance in full monthly. It relieves the financial burden on large purchases. The consumer credit card can be a great financial tool for people who use Home Depot frequently.
The card can be quite difficult to obtain with a poor credit score, usually; you pre-qualify with credit scores above 650. The downside of this card is that there are no cashback rewards.

Home Depot Credit Card Application Process
To qualify for a credit card, you must be a resident of Canada. Regardless of your method of application, whether online or in-person, the approval process is instantaneous. You’ll get your card within 14 days.
In a scenario where an instant decision was not reached, you’ll be contacted within 30 days by mail to notify you of your application status.
Although you can review your credit report and credit score to project your chances of approval before commencing your application. Also, you can use Home Depot’s pre-qualification tool to check your eligibility status. It is a swift credit check that does not affect your credit score. There are two ways to go about your application, they are:

Home Depot Online Application
To commence your online application,
- Visit the Home Depot’s online credit center
- Find the Home Depot Consumer Credit Card
- Click on the “Apply Now” button
- Fill the online application form by inputting your full name, email address, residential address, phone number, financial details, SIN Number and date of birth.
Ensure to carefully read the account’s terms and conditions, then proceed to click on the agreement box. Click on the “submit application button” to process your application. Once your application is approved, you’ll be notified of your credit limit.
Proceed with the confirmation to your closest Home Depot outlet to get your temporary card details and $25 to $100 off any Home Depot purchase of $100 to $1000 and above.
In-person Application
- Locate a local Home Depot outlet and visit the customer service desk. Inform the personnel you want to apply for a Home Depot Credit Card.
- Fill out the application form by inputting your full name, email address, residential address, phone number, financial details, SIN and date of birth.
- Wait for approval
After your application is approved, the customer care personal will issue you a temporary credit card account detail and $25 off. With the discount, you can charge any procurement to your account immediately.

How to Boost Your Chances of Approval
Bear in mind that you’ll be evaluated by several factors even if you are pre-qualified before being deemed eligible for a card. Below are some ways to boost your chance of getting approval:
- Retrieve a copy of your credit history and ensure there are no errors.
- If you notice any error, contact the credit bureau to dispute any errors noticed.
- Go through your credit report again before reapplying.
Ensure to apply for a secured credit card that needs a deposit. This helps build a positive credit history even if you get declined. Reapply for your card as soon as your credit report shows a positive credit history.

Home Depot Credit Card Limit
If you get approval for any of the cards, you’ll also receive a credit limit which is at $500. Note that the credit score required for your card could also increase.
To increase your credit limit, log in to your account, click on manage account, and then proceed to credit line increase. Home Depot uses the three bureaus to evaluate your score.
There is no telling which specific bureau will be used when you apply for your credit card. The system randomly chooses Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion to check your credit score. A good credit score from 640 above is required for the application of your card.
Available Home Depot Credit Cards
Currently, there are four kinds of Home Depot credit cards, which are divided into two bodies. Two are designed for individuals, while the other two are for companies. Not unless you’re a contractor, there won’t be a need for you to obtain the Home Depot commercial Credit Card.
Home Depot offers two types of credit cards for consumers. The conventional card offers a 0% promotional interest rate, and an established APR ranges from 21.50% to 28.99% per annum if interest is not paid in full. And the Home Depot Project Loan Credit Card is designed to work as a line of credit. It has a limited payback duration of a balance as high as $50,000 and an APR of 8.99%.
This information does not apply to residents of Quebec.
Home Depot Consumer Credit Card
This is a store card that can be used to make everyday purchases at any Home Depot store and online. For any procurement of $299 or more, Home Depot offers 0% interest for six months and other promotions all year. The 0% financing only applies when you follow your payment rules.
Like every other deferred interest promotion, 0% for six months implies that you must offset the full balance before the six months elapse. If you are late on your payment, your account will be subjected to a full interest amount for the past six months like the promotion never existed.
Home Depot Project Loan Card
This card is designed for people who are planning a massive renovation or building project. The Home Depot Project loan credit card has credit lines ranging from $500 to $50,000.
There are no annual fees attached to this card, there is a window period of 84 months to offset the balance in full and a six months purchasing grace to buy products while making interest-only repayments. The interest rate on this card is 8.99%, and there are no benefits attached to this card.
Home Depot Commercial Cards
The Home Depot Commercial Card is more suitable for businesses with multiple employees. Each employee can have their own cards for payment but will still be charged to one account. This makes it a lot easier to monitor and control employee spending.
The commercial card also offers payment flexibility and allows users to pay their balance in full each month or make low minimum monthly payments.
You can choose either of these two options: The Commercial Revolving Card or the Commercial Account.
Financing your Home Depot Credit Card
You can only finance your balance via mail, phone, or online. You can also make a payment in-store payment.
- Making Payment via mail
You can send in your payment via the mail using the return envelope and payment coupon that comes with your monthly account statement. If you don’t have the return envelope, below are two ways you can mail in your report.
- Online Mailing
Log in to your Home Depot Account and select the “Statement option” from the Account Activity menu. You can retrieve your account statement in a PDF format and use the details on it to mail in your payment.

Home Depot Payment via Phone
You can make your payment by contacting the customer service team to help you make payment. They are available from Monday – Sunday. Also, you can contact customer service via their phone number on 1-800-747-3787, and then follow the voice prompts to carry out an automated payment.
Home Depot In-Store Payment
Home Depot also accepts payments made in cash or cheque. You’ll need to bring your account number or statement to the store. Use the Home Depot store finder to find the store nearest you.
Home Depot Online Payment
You can make your payment electronically by accessing your account online. After signing in to your account, select “make payment” from the payment menu.
If you plan to use your savings or checking account to pay your credit card bill, you’ll need your account number and the bank transit number. You can also manage your account online, track your transactions, activate account alerts, and get exclusive deals
Home Depot Late Payment
Bear in mind that at the end of each billing cycle, Citibank which is the issuing bank gives customers 25 days to offset their balances without incurring any interest or being subjected to late fees. If your payment is late, you’ll be subjected to a late fee of up to $35. Note that returned payments also incur a penalty fee of up to $35.
Lost/Stolen Home Depot Card
Once you notice your card is missing, log in to your Citi account and select “the Report a lost or stolen card” option. This option can be found under the Help and contact us menu.
Does Home Depot Credit Card Expire?
There is no expiry date attached to your credit card. However, note that your account will be closed if no activity is recorded on it for a long time.
